Terms of use

Last updated October 6, 2026

The plain-language rules for using fruga.io and the Fruga Chrome extension.

[Draft for review by a Canadian lawyer before launch. Fill in the highlighted details.]

1. Agreement

These terms are an agreement between you and Fruga ([registered legal name, if different], "Fruga", "we"). By using fruga.io or the Fruga browser extension you agree to them. Ourprivacy policy and advertiser disclosure explain how we handle information and how we make money.

2. What Fruga is, and isn't

Fruga is an information tool. It estimates which of the credit cards you say you hold is likely to earn the most on a purchase, and it publishes general guides about Canadian credit cards.

Fruga is not a bank, a lender, a credit card issuer or a financial advisor. Nothing we show is personal financial, legal or tax advice, an offer of credit, or a promise that you will be approved for a card or earn a particular reward.

3. Who can use Fruga

You must have reached the age of majority in your province or territory. Fruga is designed for people in Canada and for Canadian credit cards.

4. The extension

  • We give you a personal, non-exclusive, revocable licence to use the extension for its intended purpose.
  • What you enter (your card products, point values and settings) stays in your browser. You're responsible for keeping a backup if you want one; Settings → Your data can export it.
  • The extension only reads checkout pages after you turn on checkout detection. It never fills in or changes payment fields. You always choose which card to pay with.

5. Information and accuracy

Earn rates, fees, merchant categories and point values are estimates based on information we check against issuer websites and on how stores are usually coded. Issuers change their terms, and stores can be coded differently from what we expect. Your card agreement and your statement are always what count. Please check important details before relying on them.

6. Card issuers and other websites

Fruga links to issuer and other websites that we don't control. Their terms and privacy policies apply when you use them. Card applications, approvals, rewards and disputes are between you and the issuer.

7. Acceptable use

Don't use Fruga to break the law, to interfere with websites or with Fruga itself, to copy our content or data in bulk, or to reverse engineer the extension beyond what the law allows.

8. Intellectual property

The Fruga name, symbol, website, guides and software belong to Fruga. Card names, logos and trademarks belong to their owners and are used only to identify their products. Their use doesn't mean those companies endorse Fruga.

9. No warranty

Fruga is provided "as is" and "as available". To the extent the law allows, we make no warranty that it will be accurate, complete, uninterrupted or error-free. Some provinces, including Quebec, don't allow certain warranties to be excluded, and nothing here limits rights you have under consumer protection law.

10. Limitation of liability

To the extent the law allows, Fruga isn't liable for indirect or consequential losses, or for rewards you didn't earn, fees or interest you were charged, or decisions you made using information from Fruga. Our total liability for any claim about the free extension or website is limited to [CA$100]. This doesn't apply where the law doesn't permit it.

11. Changes and ending

We may update these terms. We'll change the "Last updated" date and, for material changes, tell you on the website or in the extension. You can stop using Fruga at any time by uninstalling the extension. We may stop offering Fruga or any part of it.

12. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Province of [province] and the federal laws of Canada that apply there, without affecting any consumer protection rights you have where you live.
